Coach Vinny (Owner & Director)

Background

Hello, my name is Vinny Figueroa and I'm the Owner/Director of Chesterfield MVP.  I created Chesterfield MVP to provide the children in Chesterfield an opportunity to work on real life skills outside of the classroom such as: Communication, Trust, Problem Solving, and Leadership.  My Camps and Events have structured activities that are safe for children, where they provide ALL participants an opportunity to plug away from technology, PLAY, and have FUN!  My dream is to provide Summer Camp and Events in Chesterfield for years to come and to have our community connected through our events over the years.

I grew up in Hamilton Township and graduated from Hamilton High West.  At Hamilton High West, I received recognition in Track and Field and Football at the Conference, County, or State level.  After High School, I attended Rowan University and became involved with the football coaching staff as a scouting and game film manager, in addition to walking on the team.  I graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Exercise Science (K-12 Teacher Certification) and I received a full time Health and Physical Education job at Montgomery High School in Skillman, NJ.  (Outside Princeton)

Teaching/Professional

In my 17 years at Montgomery High School, I have learned about social, emotional, and character development of my students.  Aside from teaching Health and Physical Education and coaching, I graduated from Scranton University with a Masters of Educational Leadership (K-12).  I am certified to be a School Leader (Principal, Vice Principal, Supervisor) in any public school in New Jersey.  In addition to school leadership, I became a lead Mentor/Advisor for Peer Leadership and helped develop a Peer Leadership Program (2 Levels - Peer 1 & Peer 2) for Montgomery High School and it's community.  I've also been a School Class Advisor for 14+ years and I have helped with school fundraisers, school proms/dances, graduation, and other fun community events.

I moved to Chesterfield, NJ in 2019 to create a "FAMILY" environment for my children and community.  Montgomery High School (Ranked 25th Best High School in New Jersey AND #592 in the United States) and the greater Montgomery community has taught me the importance of preparing children to succeed as students and to become life-long learners ready to take on the world outside of education.  My camps and events are to provide structured environments where young children can have fun and enhance their physical fitness levels while learning the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, and respect, all of which are essential character education components to developing a successful leader.  Living in Chesterfield, I hope to develop strong leaders in our community by providing fun, safe, and educational opportunities with the programs Chesterfield MVP has to offer.

In the past 17 years in Montgomery, I have coached a variety of sports from the middle school to high school level.  I have coached state playoff football teams, I have coached a handful of Montgomery athletes to County Championships, Conference Championships, NJ Sectional Championships, and NJ State Championships.  I have also coached both male and female athletes to compete at Nationals for Track and Field (Shot Put and Discus).
